CIREBON (CT) – Landowners put ground pegs in their land, which is planned for location of expansion project of coal plant, in Kanci Kulon village, Astanajapura District, Cirebon. It was to protect their land from conversion to coal plant, Thursday (12/05).
Landowners along with People’s Environmental Defenders (Rapel) and 350 Indonesia put ground pegs with “No Coal” signs and created red line to border the land as symbol that they will never sell the land.
As Abdulrochmani, heir of the landowner, claimed he has 5 hectares located in the middle of the former Wood Centre site, which is currently claimed by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (KLHK), for power plant II.
“Me and my friends would retain this land because our land is for food, not for a coal plant,”he said. (Riky Sonia/ADV)
